A video may soon be all you need to respond to a Facebook post. The social networking company is testing out a feature in select countries that gives users the ability to post a clip responding to any status update. A spokesperson shared that this is part of an effort to “give people different tools to share fun, expressive content with their friends on Facebook.”
Video commenting is being tested on both Facebook's iOS and Android apps, as well as on the web.

Based on what we've seen in screenshots, when you want to respond to a post, just tap on the camera icon like you'd want to insert an image. There you'll be able to record and share your video reply which may cause people to think about Seesmic and other services built around video comments.
Facebook said that videos in comments will function exactly the same as if you published a video as your main post. They won't auto-play either.
The company's infatuation with videos is quite evident and it's working to increase consumption. More than 100 million hours are already watched on Facebook and it's certainly more engaging than simply typing out your responses. In addition, people are starting to become more comfortable with using video more. One need only look at Snapchat to see how people not only share what they're doing in this format, but also reply to others. It's this behavior that Facebook likely wants to capitalize on.
Facebook declined to specify which countries this experiment is being tested on. And since it's just a test, there's no guarantee that it'll roll out to more people in the future.
